Energy eXL16 vs. Boston Acoustics Micro 90?

That said, I'll be brief with mine: Energys: not as bright, tight, and sharp as the Bostons. Significantly more mid-range emphasis, which to me is boomy and unpleasant; like I'm being shouted at. The Energys are also physically larger - if that matters to your Dad. Bostons: the front pair [M90t's(?)] are remarkable devices. Brighter and crisper than anything in the Energy line (I happen to like that sound). I find it less intrusive, less shouting, a more natural sound. Physically smaller - easier to hide in a room. The rear pair (small bipolars) are more than adequate, but not nearly as impressive as the fronts. Low-end is more or less not an issue given that both set-ups have a powered sub. Other folks will likely opine that the M&K sub is "better" than the Boston sub, if for no other reason than its driver is 10" w/probably a larger amplifier than Boston's 75 watt M9000 sub with an 8" driver.
