Have you actually read any of his reviews?? Tom Nousaine ALWAYS refers to distortion and extension, relative to SPL!! He is very strict about distortion, using a 10% limit(very low for bass) in his measurements.
He also addresses appearance and matching, regardless of their importance. He isn't impressed with the look of Hsu subs either. However, Hsu subs are made to perform, not for attractiveness.
Finally, there is only one way to look at a sub, its performance: low, loud, and clean. Appearance is so secondary.
