Patrick,

"Appearance is so secondary."

Ehhh, depends. If you live alone that could easily be true. But depending upon your subs position and if you have others in the house appearance is nice too.

"there is only one way to look at a sub, its performance: low, loud, and clean."

You can judge them by that. But what if it won't fit in your room? Or because of it's size (needed for low, loud and clean) you can't place it properly in the room for smoothest performance?

And yes, I have a pair of Titan's in my system to compliment the rest of my ACI/Dzurko speakers. They sound (and look) great together. They have no problem playing in my system which I frequently run at THX calibrated level.

I also have another subwoofer that I bought BEFORE the Titans.. one that very much fills the low, loud and clean you mention. In fact it goes way beyond the levels you are talking about. But it's huge, ugly, heavy, ugly, is a passive so it requires a crossover and amp, ugly, and is a bear to setup and drive as it's a 0.75ohm load and reactive as hell. Did I mention it was ugly?

Shawn
