If I might interject a bit of insight into this conversation...

Specifications (both measured and advertised) mean so little in the real world. This reminds me of a friend who is still listening to his 1st generation CD player via a old 120w/ch Realistic receiver through a pair of antiquated Philips loudspeakers because "the newer stuff does not spec any better - so it does not sound any better".

As it happens I have heard the Titan countess times (yes I have owned one for 5 years now - but I am not defending it here), I have heard Paradigm subs and indeed they are quite good too... and I have heard subwoofers that really do "stomp all over" both of them - for much more money.

I believe a point of issue here is that we should refrain from stating something is inferior or superior if we have not even heard it! I suggest you state that so-and-so says it is better... and if that person wishes to contribute to the exchange - I invite him.
