Indeed I agree (thud!) - this discussion has brought up good points which have been made by both "sides"... I don't like saying sides as here the division has been so wide. A point was made via an e-mail where a comment was made with respect that the Titan is more on an "audiophile" subwoofer than a home theater subwoofer. I know that sounds off-the-wall a bit, but let me explain what this meant.

With so many products we buy, we must make a compromise in quality/quantity for the money we spend. Another example - if you want a car with the ability to grip the road like a slot car, you will likely have to give up a smooth ride. If you buy a scanner for your computer and want a USB port...however want it for a low cost - you are going to give the overall quality which EPP port scanner would give you (trust me - just been there!). And lastly when you have a price limit on a subwoofer, trade-offs will have to come into play. Here the HSU subs are known for killer bass... but are nothing to look at. The Titan is known for being a real looker, however being more at home augementing the lowest musical (key point) octaves when used with a loudspeaker such as the Sapphire and Jaguar which are from the same company.

Here is a case where if you want looks and "move the house" LFE capability, you really need to spend more. An excellent example is the M&K MX-200 I reviewed which impressed me very much. It seemed to be the "Binford" of subwoofers. Of course the price tag is roughly twice that of the Titan and HSU we are talking about here.

BTW about that scanner - I dumped the lousy $130 Canon for a $200 HP. Also I have learned to live with the hard ride of the tires I have as they bite the road instead of go up in smoke when I get wild and crazy... and give it half throttle at a standing start :)

Talk about off the topic!

Alan
