Yes, that will lead to 3dB increase...but doubling BOTH the amp and driver will lead to a 6dB(potential) increase Stuart.

We ARE discussing the addition of more powered subwoofers....i.e., you'll be doubling both amp AND driver

That;s beacuse the surrounds are at different locations in the room Stuart...if all the surround speakers were placed as close to one another as possible..then there would be a (potential) 6dB increase.
