TV,

In accordance with some very sage advice I received long ago, I make it a policy to NOT speculate on the cause of what I hear unless I know for an absolute fact what it is. But I can tell you that I would look to the amplifier module of the Titan rather than the driver itself. Is its power supply incapable of keeping up with the long- term current demands of a 25hz sine wave (none of these amp modules are built to Krell standards after all) or is there protection circuitry designed to protect both the amp and the driver from a short or malfunction of the source amplifier. I don’t know and won’t hazard a guess.

What I do feel comfortable in telling you is that TN’s measurements do not hint at what the subwoofer sounds like. Does it do 20hz or 25hz like some other subs? No, it won’t. Do most music or even movie soundtracks plumb those depths? No they don’t. With few exceptions, most music and movie soundtracks don’t go much lower than 30 or 35hz. Does it sound potent with these soundtracks? Yep, it sure does.

As I alluded to with Tim, particularly in this price class, there are compromises to be made. Where the Titan is concerned, sustained subterranean bass was sacrificed in favor of musicality and a first class finish. This may or may not be a trade off that everybody wants to make, but in my experience, a Titan owner has been a happy Titan owner.
