:::But I can tell you that I would look to the amplifier module of the Titan rather than the driver itself. Is its power supply incapable of keeping up with the long- term current demands of a 25hz sine wave (none of these amp modules are built to Krell standards after all) or is there protection circuitry designed to protect both the amp and the driver from a short or malfunction of the source amplifier. I don’t know and won’t hazard a guess.:::

I'm not familiar with any shortcomings in the ACI amp module...but you could be right. My point is...with xmax of just UNDER 7mm(I erred on the side of the ACI driver prior)...is would defy the laws of physics for a 12" driver in a small (1.9 ft3) enclosure.

Does it do 20hz or 25hz like some other subs? No, it won’t. Do most music or even movie soundtracks plumb those depths? No they don’t. With few exceptions, most music and movie soundtracks don’t go much lower than 30 or 35hz. Does it sound potent with these soundtracks? Yep, it sure does.<<<

The titan avgeraged 96dB using 25/31/40/50/63hz 1/3 spacing test points. Reference level bass requires at least 115dB at listening position...so even ELIMINATING the sad 25hz reading(80dBs) we can extrapolate the titan to (avg) about 100dB from 31-63hz.

So even giving the titan this crutch to compete with other subs in the same price range...it STILL can't even get close to reference level bass!

you'd need at least 6 titans just to hit reference levels from 31hz and up.....and then you have to get a real subwoofer to handle everything UNDER 30hz!

no thanks.
