:::TV,

Would you help me figure this out?:::

do my best...

:::Somewhere in the 100 posts below you talked about doubling the power of a sub would give you about a 3DB increase, correct?:::

Yes.

:::Now if we doubled the power in the Titan or any sub, wouldn’t it still be limited
by the drivers xmax?:::

Yes.

:::Is xmas the same as linear excursion or the distance the cone can move?:::

Yes, xmax is generally listed as one-way linear excursion, although many driver manufacturers take some liberties with these figures.

You're correct in all assumptions Bob...the thing to remember is...

When we are(were?) discussing the +3 =doubling of amp power stuff, it was more in the lines of going from 1w to 2w...or 50w to 100w. In other words...the discussion that was taking place ,*assumed* the driver(and enclosure) wouldn't be pushed past their amplification limits.

Once a subwoofer reaches a certain point...pushing more power into it will only damage it. Since the Titan's driver has less than 7mm of linear travel...the more power you feed it(above 200ish)...the more distortion you'll get.
