ACI Titan V.S HSU-TN1225HO
Posted by TV [IP: 205.188.200.53] on August 14, 1999 at 01:31:22 In Reply to: ACI Titan V.S HSU-TN1225HO posted by John R Potis Jr on August 13, 1999 at 22:22:25: I said... ::In any case...i enjoyed our exchange, and look forward to any details on the email previously discussed:: :::Picture two guys having a conversation in the park. One of them is a young guy who enjoys driving his all-wheel drive turbo charged Eagle Talon. He’s talking to an older guy who’s just bought his Ford Crown Vic and thinks it’s the most perfect car he’s ever driven. Now, you can picture them having a spirited conversation on the merits of their respective cars- each trying to sell the other on the car he drives. It can be fun. But as soon as one of them starts demeaning the other by casting dispersions on his integrity or his knowledge on the subject, it’s going to get ugly pretty quickly and here’s hoping that one of them knows enough to get up and walk away. He may get up acknowledging defeat or he may just get up acknowledging that there is little use in beating his head against the wall.::: John , while I can appreciate your POV...what should I do during exchanges such as the one with STUART? Have you reviewed our discussion regarding the amount of volume one should expect when adding a second *titan*? This is very basic knowledge...and yet, the discussion has lasted nearly a dozen posts ...simply because he either has no idea of his error...or he won't admit error. Who is served by letting such misinformation go un-challenged? :::What you don’t seem to understand is that not everybody is looking for the same things from their systems. You want to speak of achieving reference levels, which is fine for those who care to. But do you realize how few people actually listen to their systems that loud? This is just one point on which people differ.::: I posted that IF you DESIRE to listen at *reference* levels...the titan isn't the best subwoofer choice(paraphrasing, but I think accurate). If someone said they wanted to listen at relatively LOW volume levels, didn't desire real low extension...and wanted the enclosure to look wonderful....I'd be the FIRST one to suggest the titan(maybe...there's a few others too I guess). :::Over and over points have been made to you and you just don’t get it. Rather than acknowledging that some people like Talons while other people like Crown Vics, you want to tell people what to drive.::: You want *sports car performance*...buy the talon....you want a *smooth ride*...buy the Crown Vic. As long as the Crown Vic owners don't spread misinformation regarding the performance capabilities of their vehicles....there's no problem. :::This is why I ended my exchange with you. If you look around at the regulars on this forum you find people like Alan, Shawn and Stuart, all of whom I’ve known for years and while we all have our occasional disagreements, they are pretty much like me. They are here to talk about things that interest us, help others when they can and generally be of good cheer. Of course, we all like to learn something along the way.::: I travel through the net searching to learn more about a/v in general. If I see something posted I don't agree with...I'll always contest it. I try not reduce the discussion to a personal level, and I always try to base my opinion upon objective data that has been published for all to see. (a opposed to the introduction of anonymous sources of unverifiable data?) :::Its not about being the biggest badest dude on the block or about being “right” all the time.::: I agree, but at times...SOMEONE has to be *right*...or little knowledge will ever be gained? For example... If I was under the (false) assumptions that stuart was regarding the SPL gained from the addition of additional (powered) subwoofers... SOMEONE BETTER EXPLAIN TO ME MY ERROR! Thank You! During various discussion of bass reproduction in the typical h/t room...I get corrected almost DAILY...it's no big deal...that's way I enter these discussions in the first place...to educate myself further. I guess everyone doesn't share the same POV though? TV
