:::Still checking actually. I was told in so many words to go read a book, so I went one better and asked the authors of those books and various folks who have written AES papers on the subject of acoustic measurements. When I hear back I'll post:::

...maybe you should have called Flash and the Green Hornet too?(joke... stuart, don't ban me)

Stuart, could you post a copy of the email you sent out?,thanks.

Btw, in the circles I tend to travel, EVERYONE has some sort of *speaker modeling* software...and many folks have upwards of a half dozen programs at their fingertips. So when I suggested you simply *model* the issue we were discussing using some osrt of software...it wasn't an idle comment.

In my readings today, I came across two references to this topic...

STEREO REVIEW-1995 Tom Nousaine.(subwoofer secrets)

text quoted

"""if you have two subwoofers, put them both in corners---perferably the same corner, where the drivers will reinforce each other maximally. My measurements show that low-frequency outputs combine for 6dB of gain when subwoofers are placed next to each other along a side wall but produce only 4.5dB of gain when placed along opposite walls."""

Hardesty's WSR text(issue32).

text quoted

"""...two identical electrical signals will sum together to produce a combined signal that is 6dB higher in level, but two widely spaced loudspeakers receiving identical signals may only show a 4.5dB increase in acoustical output..."""
