Well, I never did read this whole thread so I've missed out on a large part of what's been said. Based on what I've seen so far, I don't think anybody ever claimed it would play terribly loud and for many (most?) people I don't think that would be a problem. I don't know if you've read Mike's FAQ on the Titan, but I don't think he ever intended for it to be a high output sub. His primary design criteria focuses on clarity and definition rather than volume.

Like you said... To each his own. If the Titan can hit 95 db peaks in an average room, that'd be more than enough for me.

Personally, I've only heard any of the Hsu subs very briefly at HiFi '99 but my wife objected rather strongly to the black cloth tower look so there really wasn't much point in going any further. On the other hand, the Titan would be a fairly easy sell when it comes to SAF.

As for producing a lot of bass below the 30hz point, I think that depends a lot on what you listen to. From what I've read and heard it's still pretty rare to come across sub 30 hz bass in most movies and music. And the human mind has an amazing ability to fill in those low frequencies with the higher frequency harmonics that are present. I'm not sure this is that much of an issue in the real world either.

Just my opinion, of course. :)

Jeff
