Shawn,

I appreciate your informative response.
The frequency ratings make a little more
sense to me now. And I'm not as concerned..
As far as the differences between the Dynaudio
coutour 1.8 MKII and the Vienna Mozart,
it is difficult for me to compare, in that, no
dealers are within 600 miles carry the
Dynaaudio. But, because of very favorable
reviews for the Dynaudio, I would love to
hear them. Also, they are approximately
$1000.00 a pair more. And, I desire to have
four satellites (the same) plus a center to
accommodate CS (Circle surround).

Dynaudio makes their own speakers and
many feel are some of the very best but also
Vienna (in the mozart) uses Scanspeak tweeters
(hand coated silk dome) and two 5.5 inch XPP cone
mid woofers, a silicone polypropylene
composite that is optically transparent
synthetic material that possesses the
best qualities of both metal and polypropylene
cones.

I mostly have been comparing the two
manufacturers by reviews and some feel
the Vienna Mozart is superior in low
frequency response with a higher level
of overall articulation.. Everything
else being equal. I know that what is most
important is to listen to them and use
my ear to evaluate but it is fun to also
compare the overall construction/specs..

Aesthetically both are beautiful with the
Vienna just a tad smaller with a footprint
of 6.7" by 11.6 and the Dynaudio 1.8 of 8" by 15".

Funny because the specifications I've
found suggest that the Vienna is 44
pounds each and the Dyanudio is 19.6
pounds each.. Maybe the difference
lies in the fact that the Vienna has
a internal base chamber that can be
filled with shot or sand. But would
they include that.. Hmmm.

Another interesting note. Even though
the two base drivers on the Vienna are
the same they are housed in different
sized cabinet chambers that possibly
provides a deeper base extension.

Oh, I’m just rambling here but do want
to thank you for clearing up my
confusion..

-Ross
