Speaker-level vs Line-level sub connections??????

Posted by Don Coleman [IP: 24.5.12.124] on August 22, 1999 at 14:41:14
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 98):

I want to use two Pinnacle 350 subwoofers to extend the range of my M&K Tripole side speakers. Do speaker-level connections give the same performance as line-levels?

I would like to use speaker-level inputs to the sub (with the amplifed signal passed on to the M&K) since I can use the existing wire from the amp. Otherwise, I would have to hook up a second cable directly from my Lex MC-1 processor to an external crossover and then on to sub, a run of about 50 feet.

(I'm considering the Pinnacle 350 since they're small and have speaker-level inputs and outputs and also line-level inputs.)

I guess what I'm after is an opinion as to whether I can expect good performance from a speaker-level connection?

Thanks in advance,
Don Coleman
