i have the bp-2004's with a avr-3300 (little brother to the 5700). i have my fronts set to large and the lfe channel set to "sub only".

as far as 2 channel music is concerned, setting the speakers to large is all you should have to do (correct me if i'm wrong, but 2 channel shouldn't have a lfe channel, right?). my setup does play the very low sounds (it's always fun to play the "time warp" cd :) through the subs, even with the lfe channel disconnected.

as far as performance compared to sat/sub setups, i didn't really look at the sat/sub setup, i really liked the bipolar sound and went with the towers.

hth,
john
