Chuck,

The MMGs are an incredible bargain at $500/pr... I can not think of a more accurate loudspeaker at that price. Yes it lacks bass, requires a lot of power and is terribly limited as far as maximum output - there has to be a reason why people continue to buy other $500/pr loudspeakers for good reason.

I do not feel you have the receiver for the job. The Maggies are a 4 ohm load and require an amplifier with a good bias toward current capability than simple watts - and it must be squeaky clean too. Also your room is large for them in my opinion. The MMGs are still at home with a power amplifier instead of a receiver as a source - if you can meet this criterion, and can accept moderate volume levels as the loudest you can play them, order a pair.

If you do go with them, definitely high-pass them and remember you will need a "quick" subwoofer over a "thumper" subwoofer. Maggie bass is ultra quick and articulate - sub matching can be tough but rewarding when you get the setup complete.

Alan
