Upgrade to 7.1 channels

We really need help from the loudspeaker gurus here!

My wife and I intend to upgrade from 5.1 to 7.1 by the addition of sides. The new speakers must be wall-mounted near the ceiling, which happens to be reasonably low at the listening area. My wife would be kindest to me if the new speakers would each fit within a 12-inch span from ceiling to door frame. We substantially have Boston Acoutics, so I thoughtr it might be ideal to stick with that brand.

My interpretation of comments in FORUM 3 is that sides should be full-range for optimal bass effects, ideally less than 40 hz.

So, it appears that the best Boston Acoutics speakers are soon-to-be-released non-THX, high quality, bookshelf speakers containing Lynnfield superweeters, and which reach 50-55 hz. Or, should we consider another brand (I don't think that these define "full-range").

Current equipment includes:
pre-amp: MC-1
amps: Lexicon/Bryston 225 and 312
mains: BA T1000U series II (circa 1986)
center: BA VRS-12
rears: BA VRS-PROs
sub: KEF THX/12-inch
DVD: Toshiba SD-3006
TV: SONY 36-inch WEGA XBR200
