The Bose AM-10 IIs will work just fine with your Sony receiver. With Series III in stores now, I am assuming your have found a discounted price on a set of the Series II version?

As I am sure others will chime in and point out soon enough, the Bose is not the best sound reproducer for the money. The bass section is not a subwoofer (equal bass to a typical bookshelf loudspeaker, which is all they are intended to do) and the cubes (the improvement in the Series III version) have their weak spots. The positive side is good resale value if you do upgrade at some point and a sound "character" which leans toward being pleasing to their intended buyer... the average family.
