bass?

As long as the music remains clean and the speakers show no signs of distress, there is not a problem. Keep a couple points in mind dealing with bass controls and power. Boosting the bass 10db (the typical maximum of a current receiver... older receivers often had more) requires a *10 times* increase in power demand! That means if you are going along at a average humble level of 10 watts (plenty loud for most listening), turning the bass control full-up will now require an average of 100 watts. Now the amplifier of your receiver - plus the speakers themselves are being taxed quite a bit more. The key is to keep a logical balance between high overall volume and strong boosted bass. If you find a strong bass boost is needed for your system to sound right in your room, maybe a powered subwoofer should be on your new toy list! Alan
