Powered Sub Resistance

Posted by Nelz [IP: 209.214.26.83] on August 30, 1999 at 17:05:46
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt):

My receiver has A & B sets of speaker terminals designed for bi-wiring, and I want hook up satellites to set A, and powered subwoofer to set B. This way the satellites will not be fed through the sub, thus allowing shorter cable runs and also eliminate any distortion that is produced by passing through the sub. However, I am concerned that this setup may produce too much draw on the amp since I do not know the OHM rating on the sub when hooked up this way. Is this a valid concern or due powered subs have good resistance? (I do not want to use line outs.)

Setup:
Denon AVR-2400 receiver
Infinity RS 2000.3 (8 ohm) speakers
Yamaha YST-SW60 Powered Subwoofer
