Speaker/Sub Setup with DSP-A1

Posted by Tom Ziman [IP: 132.233.247.5] on August 30, 1999 at 20:03:27
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows NT; IE4WDUS-1998101501; DigExt):

I have a Yamaha DSP-A1 running the front L/C/R into a Krell KAV-250a/3 and the rears being powered by the A1. The speakers are Martin-Logan reQuest, ML Logos, and ML Aerius I (rears). The sub is a Velodyne HGS-15. I have a couple questions because the local Home Theater Store can't send out a tech for another 6 weeks!! Here it goes:

1) What should the front reQuests be set to? What about the center Logos? And the rear Aerius I? Large or Small. Right now the Logos is SMALL and the rest are set to LARGE.

2) the LFE/BASS OUT option? Should I run the Sub Only output, Main only, or Both? I have it set to both right now.

3) where should the crossover be set on the Velodyne? Right now its at 55hz on the line level-input.

4) Where is the 0db setting on the volume knob of the DSP-A1 and what SPL should the speakers be adjusted to?

5) At what level (relative to the main speakers) should the sub be set?

Thanks
