Kludging a system on a budget

Using Mozilla/4.5 [en]C-CCK-MCD {TLC;RETAIL} (Win98; U):

Just starting on an HT system, pointers sought (for a technophobe). Love my Ohm 4xO's and hoping I can include them. Many space, budget and expertise limitations! What are the chances of combining these, with perhaps my Tangent RS-2's (12 year old British sweet sounding bookshelfs) and even my ancient M&K Volkswoofer III? This will be an incremental project, but I lack the room /$ for multiple speaker setups. OT for this forum, but is there a budget receiver that will facilitate using mismatched (?) speakers? Currently have Sony STR-GX7es receiver (like the sound for music) that has four s-video inputs, but no surround processing (don't know how important that is to me yet). Sorry for the rambling, but could you point me to some "kludging" resources, or offer specific pointers? Thanks, ~Geo.
