What is timber matching?

A difference in treble character can "throw a wrench in the works" when you are trying to blend all 5 or 7 speakers together in a surround setup. Midrange should be a close a possible - however I have had experience with setups where the center shared the same tweeter with the left and right, but had a different midrange with a slightly more "forward" character to the vocal region... with acceptable results for videos.
