My speakers popped while wacthing the Matrix

Using Mozilla/4.51 [en]C-CCK-MCD ApprovedClient (WinNT; U):

While watching the Matrix last night, I heard a loud popping sound from my speaker. I continued to watch the movie, and then I heard a smaller pop. I watched the movie in it's entirety without hearing any other distortions. I have some very old KLH speakers, the wattage rating is 10-200. My receiver only puts out 100 per channel. Can anyone tell me what happened? Could it be that my speaker's are just old. Could it be my receiver? I have a Sony STR DE-825.
