Martin Logan SL 3s vs. Aerius i or Scenarios
Posted by Mike¥ [IP: 142.194.176.22] on October 17, 1999 at 02:59:15 I'm currently using two pairs of JM Lab Cobalt 810's for the front and rear speakers with a JMLab CC20 center. Basically, my ears are crying to hear more! As much as I love the JM Labs, I feel the need to get the detail from the Martin Logans. Since I prefer to use identical speakers in the front and back, it now comes down to $$$. Therefore, is the larger panel on the SL3 going to make a bigger difference than the smaller one on the Aerius i? I'm not as much concerned about the bass because I'm using a subwoofer for each speaker location. But I am concerned about the bottem end of frequencies. As we all know, electrostats have a harder time in the lower end, and I want a seemless integration on the electrostat alone before it hits the sub frequencies. Comparing the SL3, Aerius i, and possibly the Scenario, is there much difference in the higher frequencies. Also, I ran into someone who has a little more experience than I in electrostats, but he said they have problems reproducing the highest frequencies, and as soon as you sit a little off axis, the speaker sounds like garbage. Is this true? Thanks fo the input. Mike¥
