If your KC-X1 does not have any bass management, then you really have bought a lemon!
>> Thanx for reminding me ;-)

Is the KC-X1 the predecessor of the KC-Z1?
>> No clue

Your sub should also have a separate high-pass filter for maximum flexibility. It is very strange that your combo-1 setup does not work.I suggest you return your sub. Running in a sub improves its sound, but the sub should produce max SPL from day one.

>> its funny but i feel the sub has improved after a week of playing..when i started off, my vol control for sub used to be on full and still i used to get very weak thumps...now i am getting the same level at less than 1/4 of the vol control level.i am convinced it can only improve now so i have decided to keep the sub.

Ideally, you should use combo-2 to make use of the .1 channel of DD 5.1 material (I am assuming that the KC-X1 can handle DD 5.1).
What are its features?
>> no it cant..i bought this system about 2yrs back.it supports THX,Dolby,DSP.
thats why i was searching for a DVD player which gives dd 5.1 o/p...but with volume control so that i can directly hook it to the amp.

I don't quite understand what you mean that the two units do not match.

>> when the bass is coming from both the subs ..u can hear the diff between the two...bose -> boomy...wharfedale -> flat..so it doesnt match/mix..
