new sub

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt):

I know that this is a really general and hard to answer question, but I'm considering the purchase of a new sub and need some direction as to where to look. I live in a fairly small (dorm) room and am looking for a good sub for around $400. It would be run with a set of polk RT-55s and a kenwood 1080 receiver. Any sort of input would be greatly appreciated
