How did you resolve low freq response problem?

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows NT; DigExt):

For those of you that have successfully removed or substantially minimized low frequency room effect problems - how did you determine the actual frequency involved (simple math or analyzer) and what did you do to address it:

- Reposition subwoofer
- Use equalizer
- Bass traps
- Other

The reason I ask is - after setting up my home theater / music room, playing a frequency sweep on a main front channel results is several substantial frequency voids or "holes" in the low end that are barely audible. I'd really like to plug these holes and flatten out the low end frequency response (wouldn't we all).

BTW: I'm using a dual subwoofer configuration - one for each main in a room 28'x16' - processor is set to NO SUB and LR mains set to LARGE.
