I thought the same thing, and the only thing I could think of to test it was to scratch the outside, which I did, and whatever they are, it's not a film or paint.

The tweeters in the back aren't great, but they're not driven very hard, so they actually give it a nice sound.

Not sure about the magnets, any good way to find out?

I was out and about a while back, got stopped by these 2 in a white astrovan. They wanted a LOT of money for these things, I told them I've give 'em $50. They eventually came down, I being the poor college student ;-) I am. :)

I got 'em home, ripped em apart to see what the insides looked like... I was happy with what I found, put em back together, hooked em up and I'm still impressed by the sound... and for $50 even!

Keep in mind, I listen to alot of contemporary jazz and eclectic guitar, so I'm real concerned with highs and mids, the bass comes through with the sub... these little AI speakers just fit the bill. One of these days, I'll bite the bullet and get some AR's. :)
