Your questions are akin to asking whether a green car is better than a red car. There are many powered subs with 100W that have higher outputs than those with 500W and vice-versa. The same goes for sealed and ported subs.

About the only thing you can really count on for help is your ears and the stereo magazines (and help from those in this forum who have real-world experience with the different models you are considering).
