Boomy is generally considered to be bad. The Bose is really a woofer, not a sub-woofer. The effect of a sub gives a thicker, richer "meatier" sound on most material. On some material, it will cause your insides to vibrate if it is turned up loud enough. If you want your system to sound like a "boom" truck, don't buy a good sub.
