Speaker Impedance Question

Posted by Barry H. Adams [IP: 204.134.118.45] on February 26, 1999 at 08:43:59
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 98):

I have an invalid friend (shut-in) that I want to give a Fisher Mini Shelf Dolby Pro-Logic HT receiver to. I purchased this receiver at a flea market and it is in excellent condition, but has no speakers.

It's manual says that the Fronts and Center are 8 ohms nominal and the Rears
are 16 ohms nominal.

I have some old 4 ohms (Front) and 8 ohms (Rear). Can they be used with this receiver without causing harm to the speakers or receiver?

Please help. His birthday is this weekend and I wanted to give it to him then.

Thanks!!
