Here's my 2cents for what it might be worth. IMO it definately sound as if your crossover is to high. If you do not have a steep crossover slope (18+) then you may just be getting a bit of bottom-midbass. Try setting the crossover to 70 and see how you like it. This may require turning up the gain on the subs amp. But the ultimate solution is to buy the second sub. I hade the same problem your running into with mine. I have an M&K mx-100 with 2 12's and a 200watt amp. When I first got it home, it had a ton of bass, but I was getting overtones where the sub sounded too loud. Now of course four 12's and 400 watts insane. Even though after 5 years, my wife still gives me the evil eye about the extra cost. It's funny how, when her friends come over, the remote quickly disappears into her hand with a smile. It killed me to buy it but I would not trade it for the world. It's not the amount of bass for me, it's the quality. Sorry to ramble...long day.
