Billy,

One of my sub-woofer pet-hates are the "auto" circuits manufacturers use. Even at high levels you'll find the sub shutting off during quiet passages of movies and music and then just when you need some startling impact it's not active! Threshold levels vary between manufacturers, some are better than others but even the lowest thresholds can prove troublesome.

It's much better to leave the sub permanently turned "On" (unless your system is off at which time you can turn the sub off too to save the planet's precious resources).

You'll find that the power consumption level is listed in watts either on the rear of the sub or in the instruction Emmanuel. Sub-woofers typically use no more power than a modest amplifier.

Stuart.
