Subwoofer location/settings
Posted by Scott Avery [IP: 207.172.60.64] on March 03, 1999 at 23:20:26 In Reply to: Subwoofer location/settings posted by SMR [WizOp] March 02, 1999 at 14:57:48 Stuart, While you're talking high and low level sub connections, I have another question: I have been looking at subwoofer amps and noticed that the ACI amp they put on the Titan sub sums all inputs to mono, both the high levels (L/R) and the low level connection(s). It would seem then that I could connect both high level and low level at the same time, yes? Let me explain why I am interested: I have a transducer (16 bass shakers in a couch) that needs to be connected to the sub-out connection of my dolby digital receiver. Now I can connect a my small mains (B&W 602) and choose SMALL in the DD setup, with a powered sub connected to the sub out, but this pushes more bass (higher crossover) out to my transducer which is a little disconcerting when listening to music. So I'd rather be able to set the mains to large so the crossover is lower. I currently have two passive subs in the system, one in parallel with the mains and one in parallel with the transducer. Both subs are poor so I'd like to switch over to a powered sub (or two), but I'd rather use just one sub if its possible to have it driven by both high and low level inputs at the same time. I could also solve the problem by putting another crossover between the sub out and the trasducer's amp. What do you think?
