DTS Posted by Jeff Lewis [IP: 206.117.36.14] on October 29, 1998 at 17:12:09: In Reply to: DTS posted by Michael A. Cohen on October 29, 1998 at 12:30:19: Michael, I'm afraid if you bought the discs at Best Buy then they are not DTS CDs. We (Image Entertainment) are not selling the DTS CDs to Best Buy (unfortunately). Right now the largest chain store carrying the discs, and doing quite well with them, is Fry's Electronics. Other than that they are limited to specialty audio stores across the country, and of course mail order. You can check our website (www.image-entertainment.com) to see if there is a DTS retailer in your area, if not then we have links to on-line retailers as well. Click on Image Retailers and then click on DTS Retailers for the proper listing. Since we took over the distribution of the DTS CDs about 10 months ago we've opened up over 200 retail accounts across the country. The large music stores such as Tower Records consider it too much of a niche product for them to dedicate floor space to yet, and they are worried that their customers and employees won't understand what it is or what is required to play it. So for now, the specialty audio stores are the ones demonstrating the format, educating the consumer and selling the discs. Just for your information, the two discs that came out this week are Titanic Soundtrack and Toy Matinee, with the late Kevin Gilbert. In the last few weeks were Joe Cocker: Night Calls, Mozart Symphony's #40-41, and Vince Gill: Breath of Heaven. The next few weeks will see Collin Ray: Walls Came Down, Dave Brubeck Quartet: So What (Telarc), Ray Brown Trio: Summertime (Telarc), Debussy Vol.1, Holst: The Planets (Angel Classics), and Lyle Lovett: Joshua Judges Ruth. Also, the laserdiscs that came out this week are Get Shorty, Die Hard, Die Hard II, Rob Roy and Red Corner. Jeff Lewis
