: What does logic 7 do for the stereo sound on two channel stuff?

Of all the DC-1's surround algorithms, Logic 7 is the most aggressive in its steering signals to the surrounds. Although designed as an enhancement to matrix-encoded material, even on stereo music Logic 7 does a remarkable job of creating an enveloping soundfield that rivals discrete 5.1 formats.

You'll find its effectiveness really varies depending on the material. For recordings geeared to a traditional soundstage, you may find the effect too extreme--there are other effects that ofer more subtle augmentation. But for material built from studio tracks, the effect can be very fun.

I've noticed that having the same speakers for fronts and rears really helps get the best use of Logic 7 for these purposes (two-channel music sources). Also, you need to turn off Logic 7's re-equalization parameter, which is designed to tame overly bright movie soundtracks by rolling off highs. I also like to set the rear rolloff to its highest setting for the most aggressive steering--since you're not looking for a traditional soundstage, why not go for it?

Again, this isn't a "natural" soundfield, but it's really fun with the right musical material. Definitely experiment with it when you're auditioning.

Movies are another matter altogether--I haven't met a movie with any surround information that I didn't prefer in Logic 7 to the other Pro-Logic effects.
