Nasty Hiss

Posted by Andrew Krieg [IP: 169.207.134.93] on November 30, 1998 at 11:23:00:

I've only been using my Lexicon DC-1 for a couple of weeks, but one thing I noticed right away is the annoyingly loud hiss output I hear on all 5 of my speakers (no sub yet). My system has 1.0 software on it.

When I turn on my amps, I can walk around to each of the speakers and hear a small, normal amount of hiss from the distortion in the amps. However, once I power on the Lexicon, this hiss increases close to 10 fold! This just does not seem right. My previous NAD audio preamp, and current McIntosh audio preamp do not amplify the hiss at all.

Is something not set right in my Lexicon? The hiss is unchanged as I adjust the volume on the Lexicon.

The unit is new and under warranty. I plan to take it in this week for a software upgrade. Should I have this problem looked at as well? Or is the
problem fixed in the later software?
