DTS demo DVD dropouts?

Posted by Mark G. [IP: 209.138.41.3] on November 30, 1998 at 16:52:21:

I've heard from one DC-1 owner who did not know about this forum that he had experienced "audio dropouts" on the DTS demo DVD. He owns a Toshiba SD-2108 DVD player. Simple reason would dictate that a bitstream is a bitstream is a bitstream, and that the DVD player would not be at fault. Unfortunately, nothing in this hobby is so simple. Can anyone substantiate from a technical standpoint whether or not there would be differences in Audio quality from player to player, or from generation to generation for that matter? Would the new third gen players sound better that the first? Has anyone experienced these "dropouts" on the DTS demo DVD? I know it couldn't be the DC-1! Mark
