You are right I'm using a NEW Toshiba 2108 DVD player. It's curious though that this did NOT happen using a B&K REF 20 preamp. I used the B&K and Toshiba together for a couple of weeks before the DC-1 and had NO problems at all.

The DC-1 definitely sounds better, but is this a sign that the DC-1 is more apt to experience problems with other equipment? Is it more sensitive or error prone?

What DVD players do you recommend?

As to your DTS question, I only have two DTS music CD's (only DTS source I've tried on the Toshiba) but about a dozen DTS LD's. Everything I've played through my Dennon LD-3500 has worked fine with the DC-1 (but I've only had time to try one Ac-3 LD so far).
