Well, I'll be interested to hear what you decided to do today regarding the Toshiba machine, hopefully you've replaced it for Panasonic, Sony or Pioneer.

Although I'm sure there are some who would delight in suggesting the DC-1 was (is) to blame, poor misguided souls, the problem is definitely due to the Toshiba. Take a look at the thread "Toshiba Response to Audio Dropouts on SD-2108 DVD" in SMR Forum 6.

It seems all sorts of Dolby Digital hardware could be effected by the Toshiba.
