When you turn up the gain on your sub, you are amplifying noise as well as signal. By sending a nice hot signal to your sub, you minimize the amount you need to turn up the sub. I agree with others though that you should leave yourself a bit of room to adjust the sub output level a bit each way for flexibility. Robin
