The VSR side (dipole) drivers have full high frequency extension, just like the NHTs. Dipole designs inherently roll off the highs somewhat because of the null, and will sound relatively "dark"--however, the added sense of spaciousness and diffusion make for a more enveloping surround effect that wraps the soundfield farther to the front and rear.

Everything's a trade-off.
