volume control by setting output to less than 75db

Posted by Robert Bledsoe [IP: 209.24.162.250] on December 26, 1998 at 03:05:19:

I have a long narrow room 12x25 a 7 speaker set up. With speaker output set to 75db via spl meter anything over -10db on the lexicon is to loud for me and much to loud for wife. Is it better for the effects to set output to less than 75db or to listen at -10 to -20db? I listen primarily to dvd with Sony 7000 player. Thanks in advance.
