DTS False Start Posted by Phil Miller [IP: 205.188.193.176] on December 28, 1998 at 14:38:28: In Reply to: DTS False Start posted by Kevin on December 27, 1998 at 12:08:37: Hi Kevin: I also have the "Guacho" DTS CD which I play on a Sony 7000 and I have experienced no such problem. My guess is that the problem is with your DV 09. The "scratching" (for lack of a better term) sound heard when you switch tracks is caused, according to my understanding, by the fact that DTS material does not have certain signal "flags" included in the material which would act as pointers to your player and relieve this sound. The "jump start" into the material you are describing sounds like something quite different. Remember, the DC-1 senses an "audio" signal before you are actually able to hear any playback -i.e you can see this when you begin material and the read-out on the DC-1 tells you there is "No Audio" and then this read-out will dissappear before sound is actually heard. My guess is that the Pioneer is having difficulty tracking the DTS signal and may even be continuing its "mute" function beyond the actual beginning of the DTS track; an interesting experiment would be to go into track
