$5k was an huge amount of money for a preamp 2 years ago.

All the "Big Boys Toy" companies have upped the ante. Lexicon may want to continue being associated with those toy companies.

If they did charge $10k they could easily do a $5k trade in with the DC-1. This would likely produce a steady stream of Lexicon DC-1 owners upgrading. DC-1 owners would say I can get a $10k preamp for only $5k and not loose a penny of my investment. And when that runs out they can run another "sale".

Most of these High-End dealers and reviewers judge a product by it's price range as much as anything.

I really don't think they would go into the >10k bracket but I certainly would not rule it out. Depends what it is, maybe it includes a new touch screen remote.

My guess is $5k-$7k

If they stayed at $5k there is a lot of competition in that price range and may mean a smaller piece of the pie.

But who know's (well we know who know's), it could be a $3k unit with no trade in.
