This assumes that the DC-2 is a replacement for the DC-1. However, it could also be a companion unit at another price point--competition for the Krell, Meridian and Casablanca, while still maintaining the DC-1 in the under-$5K market where it's an established contender.

Theta is pursuing a strategy something like this with its new CasaNova, which will go alongside the pricier Casablanca.

All just conjecture, at this point.
