The difference is subtle at best.
Some say it will reduce lifetime others say it will extend it (I'm in the reduce camp).
Your system is also more exposed to power related damage. I'd sleep much better knowing everything is off. Turn it on at supper time and it will be plenty warmed up for an evening movie (you probably would not even hear the differnce on a movie).
Poweramps do take some juice and would be pretty wasteful also.The DC-1 is always "on" regardless.
