What did we pay for in the DC-1? Presumably, some of that $5K is to pay for Lexicon's research and implementation of the proprietary surround effects. I know that in terms of value added I paid a lot for them. I could have bought a straight DD/DPL processor that probably would have satisfied me for much less. The primary value the DC-1 provides for me over a "normal" processor are the surround effects. So, in fact, I paid many times more than $300 for these.

I have no idea if Circle Surround works well. Supposedly, it provides stereo surround channels with modes optimized for music and film. If it works well than I think it adds $300 of value.
