: I *think* (sorry if I generalized) that most will agree the DC-1, as it
stands today anyway, does not hold up at $5k list today.

Why not simply state your opinion as yours instead of presuming to speak for others? As usual, you invoke vague, unidentified legions to give credence to your biases.

On what do you base this assertion? All the polls among users here indicate an overwhelming level of user satisfaction. Can you point to a single post from anyone who feels they paid too much for their DC-1?

Your statement is purposefully vague. What do you mean by "holding up?" There are features the DC-1 offers (the combination of Logic 7, 7-channel surround, and Lexicon's proprietary surround algorithms) that no other company else offers at any price. Naturally, other manufacturers have other selling points. What you conveniently fail to mention is that you personally do not use the DC-1's unique features, and discount them in your evaluations. In other words, you stack the deck to obtain the result you want.

You also fail to mention that a new DC-1 can be purchased for $3500. At that price, it holds up to competition quite well, in my opinion. If you can cite numbers to support your contention that "most will agree the DC-1, as it stands today anyway, does not hold up" please identify them. Otherwise, please confine your pronouncements to your own opinions.

The question for each person to answer for themself is whether a product's features are worth the price. Trying to mask your biases as a general consensus isn't helpful to that process.
